With both drivers mounted in the same face plate, they are oriented in perfect time alignment. That is not possible with two separate drivers!
The new tweeter in the F118 lifts yet another veil between you and the music. Unlike a ribbon tweeter it does not have a transformer. The ribbon in the Eddie Classic worked because it had a very expensive transformer and very exotic crossover to go with it.
Other transformers, no matter how good, adds coloration. It also adds resistance into the circuit path that is really challenging in crossover design.
